Gunsmith training – Maintenance, care, and protection of firearms conducted by an experienced gunsmith from the Jammas Shooting Center.
This is a practical, very specific training aimed at people who want to independently and consciously take care of their firearms – both new, used, and antique.
Training goal To teach you universal, proven practical principles and procedures that will allow you to safely and effectively prepare, clean, preserve, and protect your firearm before, during, and after shooting.
Training program
- The most important safety rules at the gunsmith's bench
- Types of handguns, long guns, and shotguns – the most popular designs and methods of disassembly
- Preparing the firearm for the first shot: new firearm straight from the store, used firearm, historical – the most important differences
- Technical condition diagnosis – what actually wears out fastest and what to pay attention to
- Cleaning chemicals – overview of agents, their strengths and weaknesses, correct and most common application mistakes
- Firearm inspection after cleaning – what to look for before starting lubrication
- Lubrication and protective coatings – when, with what, and how much
- Proper firearm reassembly + checking the operation of mechanisms
- Maintenance and care of external parts (grips, bluing, cerakote, wood, plastics)
- Long-term firearm storage protection (several months ↔ several years)
- Typical malfunctions beyond standard cleaning – what to do in case of: case rupture, barrel obstruction, cracks, and others
- What you are allowed and absolutely not allowed to do yourself to avoid breaking the law
