Why silicon carbide?

SiC ceramic is exceptionally hard yet lightweight. This allows the plate to effectively stop a bullet without you having to carry unnecessary weight.

The plate is coated on the outside with waterproof Cordura fabric, making it resistant to damage from liquids and temperature extremes. The edges of the insert are lined with shock-absorbing foam to prevent damage to the ceramic in the event of a fall.
